API RP 1192: 2025 – Transportation of Carbon Dioxide by Pipeline
It provides recommended practices for the safe transportation of carbon dioxide (CO₂) by pipeline. The standard covers the design, construction, operation, maintenance, integrity management, and emergency response for CO₂ pipelines and associated facilities.
The guidance applies to onshore gathering and transmission pipelines that transport CO₂ in gas phase, liquid phase, and supercritical (dense-phase) conditions. It also considers offshore pipelines and carbon sequestration applications where relevant to pipeline transportation.
It supports infrastructure used in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects by providing guidance for the transportation of CO₂. The standard does not cover CO₂ capture, injection, utilization, or long-term geological storage processes.
