The updated and expanded NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, is the most current and complete document covering inspection, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems. NFPA 25 is incorporated by reference in many U.S. states and offers comprehensive requirements for helping to ensure that these fire protection systems are ready to respond in the event of an emergency.

The 2026 edition features several important updates. These include:
