The Doc 9284 contains the only legal source of regulations for the safe transport of dangerous goods by air. Shippers, operators, State authorities and anyone else involved in the air transport chain will find in this manual all of the detailed regulations necessary for the safe transport of dangerous good by air.
This manual is also known as the Technical Instructions or the TI’s.

The Recommendations on Tests and Criteria, which are incorporated by reference into certain provisions of these Technical Instructions, are published as a separate manual (United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria), the contents of which are:

Part II: Relating to self-reactive substances, organic peroxides and polymerizing substances;

Doc 9284 Supplement provides information on the safe transport of dangerous goods by air that is primarily of interest to States. It supplements or explains in greater depth the basic information contained in the Technical Instructions.
